Cartajena was as beautiful as the other places we saw in Colombia. The walled old part of town dates back to the 1500’s and is filled with colonial buildings, squares, streets and of course doors.
It’s also a modern city on the coast which means lots and lots of coastline and beaches.
Even the coffee shops and restaurants were Instagram ready.
Doors, Doors and more doors.
Walking around the old town, I went door picture crazy.
Even Jeff caught door photo fever.
We spent three nights in a huge Air BnB which was great except for the party busses which drove up and down the street blaring music all night.
So many new types of fruit to try
When we tired of the old town we went to a hotel by the beach. Even the hotel welcome chocolates were picture ready.
The really spectacular beaches were a boat ride away on the nearby islands. We stayed on the mainland where the beach was still nice.
And then we flew back to Panama City. This was our first trip to Colombia but hopefully not our last.
Your pictures are fantastic. I hope you can do more trips like this.
Hi Sheryl and Jeff! So I think you both know I’m back in the USA (for 7 months already!) and I’ve now got airline employee discounts, and armed with my decent Spanish I intend to visit many many locales in Latin America. Colombia (Medellín, Manizales, Barranquilla… perhaps Cartajena?) is high on my list, and of course I’d love to visit Panama too especially if you’re there! Would love to catch up via Zoom soon and compare travel notes and catch up on life! 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving (believe it or not it’s my first one actually in the USA in 21 years – Joanna and I moved to Scotland in early 2003)!
